Dr. J. Richard Goss currently serves as the Medical Director of Harborview Medical Center and the Director of Quality Metrics Reporting for UW Medicine. Dr. Goss is a Professor with the Department of Medicine and the Associate Dean of the UW School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University and elected to complete his residency in General Internal Medicine at Indiana University. Dr. Goss was selected to join the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Washington where he received a Masters in Public Health. He has conducted research related to Quality Improvement and has been instrumental in the developing and management of the Access to Excellence web program, a tool allowing for enabling a method for extensive transparency, comparative reporting and action on a wide array of clinical, quality and safety, efficiency and patient-centered domains. He is also actively involved in the Bob Bree Collaborative, WSHA Patient Safety Committee and serves on the Board of the Foundation for Healthcare Quality.
