Wilfred Ngwa, MS PhD

Wilfred Ngwa, MS PhD  is  a professor in Radiation Oncology and Director of the Global Health Catalyst at Harvard Medical School. He is also Distinguished visiting full Professor at ICT University, with recent guest Professorships at the University of Pennsylvania, and University of Heidelberg, Germany.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree at the University of Buea Cameroon, and completed his Masters and doctoral studies at the University of Leipzig, Germany. His clinical training in Radiation Oncology was at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Orlando Florida,  and Harvard Medical School.

He has won a number of prestigious  prizes and awards, including the BRIght Futures prize at Harvard Medical School for the development of Tiny Drones to Target Cancer in 2015.   Other awards include two Research Excellence Awards from the USA National Institutes of Health,  the CFA  and ALC leadership awards for global health, two best in physics awards by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine on work related to the drone technology,  2018 Partners Healthcare Innovation Award, and the 2019 BWH Physician Association Pillar Award at Harvard,  amongst other awards.  His leadership led to the recent launch of the world’s premier Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Cloud (C4) powered by Artificial Intelligence, and the establishment of the International Phytomedicines and Medical Cannabis Institute at Harvard, one of the biggest global health initiatives yet on phytomedicines and Medical Cannabis.

Dr Ngwa is widely recognized as a global health leader with a strong commitment to building high impact collaborations to eliminate global health disparities and increasing access to treatment including for patients in poor-resource settings, working with the diaspora, industry and governments to ensure sustainability and impact.  He has published  over 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications and conference papers including two books on global oncology published by IOP Sciences.
